Ah, well, if you're right about who it is, you should know why I had a bit of a tough time finding three non-ambiguous characters that wouldn't be dead giveaways.

I'm guessing Robin Williams, based soley on #3 (he voiced the genie in Aladdin), though these days I'm unsure if the role is well known enough to considered a "dead giveaway." I have no idea for the other two roles.

Is it Brian Cox? There are many actors I can think of that fit 2 of the 3 hints, but I he seems to fit all three:

1. The Devil's Crown (Henry II)
2. Troy (Agamemnon King of Mycenae)
3. Red Dwarf (The King of Camelot)

You know, it's not who I was thinking of, but I've got to give it to you. I had in mind the other Scottish actor who played King Arthur, Agamemnon, and a 12th century Plantagenet king of England.

1. A valet
2. A kidnapped bureaucrat
3. A detective

Okay I almost couldn't figure who I was talking about.

Seriously extended hints:

1. A valet hoping for revenge
2. A bureaucrat who gets kidnapped in a barren future world (in the book this character was a university professor and there was no kidnapping)
3. A Detective Chief Inspector

I think the italics give it away. It's Clive Owen.

1) ?
2) Children of Men
3) ?

My Google-assisted guess is John Turturro:
1: The Big Lebowski
2: Monkeybone
3: The Luzhin Defense

I probably just copied the wrong movie off the web -- I've not seen either.

Anyway, who has played:
1) A television news producer
2) A television news reporter
3) An agent for the Church

If anyone needs hints:
1: A synonym for "agent" might be "operative".
2: In #1, she played opposite an actor who's already been done in this game.

Okay, since it's been a few days, I don't feel bad jumping in on this one.

It's Andie MacDowell, right?

1- Groundhog Day
2- Muppets from Space
3- Hudson Hawk

Okay, so it's been a little while so here are a few basic hints:

1- TV show (not title character)
2- TV show (title character)
3- Movie (no title character)

well, since you first posted, I was sure it was Christopher Gorham based on the second clue alone, and your second post has done little to change that theory. I'm just insufficiently familiar with the other tv shows or movies on his resume to link the other two clues, and so I was thinking someone who knows more should get the credit, so I didn't post.

Well, you're right. Christopher Gorham it is. I figured the second one would be the bigger hint for most people. The roles I'm referring to are as follows:

1- Henry Grubstick from Ugly Betty
2- Jake Foley from Jake 2.0 (Why'd UPN have to show their incompetence by cancelling this thing before even completing one season?)
3- John Groberg from The Other Side of Heaven

1) almost a werewolf
2) almost a person
3) almost dead

concentrate on the first 2. the third is a bit of a lameness because I was trying to keep an 'almost' theme

Yeah, you got me stumped. I'm not exactly sure what to think of "almost human". Unless it was Jay Underwood from Not Quite Human, but I don't see that he fits any of the other clues even remotely.

Rutger Hauer

1) almost a werewolf - in Ladyhawke he was in fact a man that changed into a wolf, but it was every night and not lunar

2) almost a person - in Blade Runner he was an artificial person

3) almost alive - he played a vampire in at least one movie, so I suppose we'll go with Dracula in Dracula III:Legacy (I didn't like this clue, keeping the 'almost' theme hurt)

4) recent movie, businessman, almost a villain, really just an annoyance - in Batman Begins he was Earle, the dude who ran WayneCorp for many years after Tom died.

but I'm declaring Noma the winner because the Hugh Jackman stuff might fit.
