This is the second to last secret room I have to master (the other is that darn orb puzzle in lowest puzzle. I can't seem to avoid having the fegundo get trapped as it seeks to blow up some roots. I have reviewed the helpful hints here but need something more specific to help me. I get up to the west side turn safely and use the fegundo to open up the wall. But then I can't kill clear briar faster than it is growing.

God I hate this room. Could someone please upload a demo for it I've been stuck on it over a week now.

Even with the all the tips I just can't get to the second tunnel without the briar growing too quickly.

Help!

Yes, I think I can see how someone could start to hate this room - I actually thought the same, but only until I had it figured out and did it a second time to improve on it; then it was actually Not That Hard(TM).

Many thanks, I'm going to have a go at it later now I know what I'm doing wrong.

This is the first room in all 3 official holds I've needed to watch a demo for (although there's been quite a few I've needed hints for)

I'm afraid someone else will have to, as it seems some of the briar changes in 3.1 have broken my demo, and I don't have the patience yet again to re-solve this room...

Well I decide when I did beat this room I would put up my victory demo since the on that is here is not the 3.1 version. While the demo helped I still struggled through this one. So, this is probably not the best job on this room, but it worked.

Thank-you techant for posting a demo. I can confirm (seven years on!) that this demo works in the The Second Sky engine.

I revisited this room when I realized that the new multiple undo feature of the TSS engine could help me a lot with the difficult-to-predict relative timing of the fegundo and the briar.

Even late on in this room, the briar can easily overwhelm you if you make one false move, but UU made it doable for me.

I can't get anywhere in this room. The moment I activate the power token, the fegundo rushes off northwards, blows himself up against walls, then the moment he revives from his ashes, he does the same and bashes himself to death on the north edge of the screen - which is now over a pit, so he dies permanently.

How do I make the fegundo OBEY MY COMMANDS?

Fegundos move in the direction you are facing. When you were playing as the Negotiator, you could change facing direction instantly by moving in that direction, even bumping against a wall or water. As Beethro, you cannot: you are limited to turning 45 degrees at a time. That's one thing that makes this room tricky, since if you don't plan in advance you can easily get stuck in a situation where you can't turn in the correct direction to save the fegundo.

If you need more practice in controlling a fegundo with Beethro, I recommend playing this level's other fegundo secret room before this one.

Thanks, I finally got it. That was a bloody annoying level, having to keep the briar alive while walking through it... it gave me great pleasure, after killing the roach, to get through to the final root, kill it and then eradicate every last trace of the briars that were no longer growing :-)

I take it that if Beethro ever had to put down his sword (e.g. after passing a disarm token or walking on Oremites), he would be a much better commander of fegundos, like the Negotiator was?
