I guess it's possible this is not an error, but it sure seems like one:

Slayers don't count to the enemy count, 39th or otherwise.

That answer your question?

That shouldn't matter in the room he mentioned.

You know: while help is always appreciated, this isn't the first time you've posted a suggestion without quite understanding the topic. You might want to, I don't know, ease up a little.

(Sorry, I think it's the "that answer your question", which sounds awfully presumptuous.)

Interesting... the exact same scripting error happened in my game when I was in a similar room near the very end. In my case, the "demo not recorded" bug was also at work and I have no record of my "lucky break". In two days of restarting my computer, restarting DROD, and repeating the 5 kills in that room, I did not see the scripting error again. However, I didn't solve the "demo not recorded" problem until I restored the game back to a different room I had solved earlier. I had assumed the two problems were related until I saw this thread.

Yes, please post a F4'd demo of the room where the door has opened after killing only four slayers. Thanks.

Heres my demo of the 'other' room. The door opens once the last slayer hits the bottom right hand corner - I don't know how the room is scripted, but perhaps just that one square is missing from somewhere.

I encountered the same bug. Here's the demo I saved.

Watching qkumbr's demo finally allowed me to reproduce the error reliably. Thanks qkumbr! For the door to open early, it's necessary to have all living slayers somewhere in the 5 squares between and (25,27) and (29,27) in the lower right part of the room.

Here's a demo where I did it on purpose, leaving 3 slayers alive.

Thanks for the demos. I found the problem -- not a scripting error, just a programming error, so this will be fixed in the 3.0.2 patch.

For those interested, DROD scans the rows in the room for slayers, and it stopped looking as soon as it encountered the announcer NPC. So if you have slayers only in a room position past where an NPC is, then it was as if they weren't there at all. This bug is also in 2.0 (surprising no one encountered this bug before), so I've fixed it for 2.0.16 also.
