icon Demo playback problem with mimics (+1)  
In TCB, demo playback breaks if you back up past a mimic placement.

Watch a demo, wait until after a mimic placement has occurred, then press the left arrow key repeatedly. The timer starts skipping back many moves at a time, and playback can de-sync.

Sorry; that wasn't a very good bug report. I thought it happened everywhere, but when I look at it now, I can't even remember what I was doing.

I think it may only apply to demos recorded with a pre-TCB version of the game. To reproduce: find a demo with a mimic, that was recorded with JtRH. Play it, and use the right arrow key to advance just until the mimic has been placed. Then press the left arrow key once, then the right arrow key multiple times. My result: playback de-syncs, and Beethro's moves get interpreted as mimic placement moves. I think this happens for any such demo, but if you want an explicit example, try michthro's 63-move demo of Smitemastery 101 : 1S2E.

Thanks. I've fixed this. Now, stepping backwards will move backwards one player turn at a time. This will skip the mimic cursor placement steps, but I don't think anyone would care to step backwards one-by-one through those anyway.

Ehh, no :blush I wasn't, I thought I was using it, I had downloaded and installed it, but something must have went wrong...
Anyway, now I have got it, and I tested going forth and back through a demo including mimic placement, it seemed to work fine at first, but after I had kept going forth and back for a while the demo went just weird, and ended with Beethro either dying or exiting the room:?

(Well this is really not a big deal).

Something like this, perhaps?

In that case, the demo was replaying the mimic placement moves after the mimic had been placed, leading to all kinds of mayhem...
