It only seems to not be colored when the underline opening tag is before the color tag. I think this should either be changed or mentioned in a help file.

Ironically, I found this extra bit of work for Schik while posting in his birthday thread.

Actually, that has nothing to do with Schik. It's a quirk in your browser. In the source, the HTML is positioned the way you did it, and it's up to your browser.

True, but the forum translates its own code into HTML, and Schik controls that.

Right, but I think it's going to waaay to much work to ask if the underline tag is inside another tag and move it out. It's your browser's fault. If you're using Firefox, try Bugzilla. That should sort things out.

I don't know, it does it for me in Firefox, IE6, and Opera. Which makes me not so sure that it's a bug.

Further research indicates that the <u> elment is deprecated, you should use a span element with stylesheets instead, and according to CSS specification, the underline inherints any color property, so, basically, once Schik fixes the deprecated tag (CSS is "text-decoration: underline"), it's no longer his problem, as he's up to specification.

Gah. Well, if it has to be done (and I doubt it), it should be done like this:

u { text-decoration: underline; }

I've never seen a browser that didn't support the <u> tag (even text-based browsers like lynx supports it), but not everything does CSS. Keeping the forum reasonably compatible is a good idea, I think.
