I think you're right -- Maurog is going to die in 26 turns.

Worth noting: had Maurog jumped instead of bumped on turn...139? He would not only have survived, he would have beat zex to the entrance to the middle arena.

Unless my calculations are wrong or there is some outside interference I will be joining the survivors in the middle area on turn 344,
Save me a space!

Of course, if Jolima would have bumped instead of jumping, then that might be a different story...

It's a moot point because Techant bumped, but had both Tahnan and Techant jumped, and then Tahnan jumped again when facing Techant's head, he would have reached the exit first. So yeah, it's not like jumping would have saved him, but it was a better chance than bumping which as far as I can tell offers him no chance at all.
I think we my be looking at two different situations. Or then I'm just stupid today... I still see zero survival options for Tahnan's earlier jump, and one (low) survival possibility for bumping at that place. Could you maybe make a quick image or something for clearer view. (I'll get a chance for that in about 5 hours from now, otherwise)

Here's the image of what I meant. It's a bit messy, but I greyed out the moves the serpents actually made. The red line represents Thanan's possible path and the purple line represents Techant's possible path. Note that the picture represents the possible status as of turn 143.

It's true that Tahnan's jumping would have relied on Techant jumping on turn 139 to survive, but his bumping would have required her to do the same, *and* Darkmatt would also have had to make a mistake. Thus, clearly a less optimal path.

Unless of course I've made some sort of mistake, but I don't think so.

I don't think so. It would have taken a little longer, but at that point Chris was getting out and Jolima was dying either way.

I think you have Tahnan and Darkmatt mixed up. The top greyed out snake is Darkmatt.

Ah, that explains the confusion. Sorry, Doom, and also Tahnan, for that matter. So yeah, Darkmatt made a mistake by bumping instead of jumping...

I don't know how I made this mistake, I'm sure I checked the positions of the snakes. :selftwak

If jamesdenem had jumped to the left, and Jolima bumped then all 3 of us would have died, and only Techant would have escaped (although I'm not sure he's really escaped yet, just found a different place to escape from - I'm only allowed one window at a time here, so I can't see).

I'd just like to say, this snakes game is the perfect alternative to sudoku for holiday beach-time puzzling. I've spent many an hour with a few sheets of graph paper and a photo on my digital camera of the snake pit working out the possibilities :)

Thanks Erik, for inventing this gem!

No, the end result could have been very different. If Timo006 had spent a little more time in the center, either me or Someone Else would have had time to enter the middle entrance and bump against Timo006's head, and all three of us would probably have had longer lives*. Timo006 wouldn't have entered the upper middle area at all, and whoever didn't take the middle entrance could have been off to the adventure I'm currently slithering towards.

I'm pretty sure that there was no way for him to delay enough to change the eventual outcome in the northern area. He could have ended up in one of the side areas, which may well have changed the result.

Well, because of a mistake a few hours ago made by someone else, you will manage to survive, and there is in fact a way out of the next area you'll be in, but it requires much forethought on your part.

Oh, I know. I've had my eyes on that path since saturday :). It was great watching everyone slither exactly where I wanted them to go .. well, except for Someone Else (somehow I missed taking into account how he could spoil it all for me) and Kevin, who came and invalidated my originally planned path. Will have to look at that part again ..

Back when I was exiting the top-left area I was looking for a way to turn it into a death-trap but couldn't find any path that wouldn't have made my survival dependent on other serpents, and decided to prefer my own safety.

To coil a little bit more or not to, not that my position is lovely now. That's the question. Too bad NiroZ decided to jump back instead of putting me into a certain dead.

Yeah, but that would have still gotten him to the top edge before Trick or Someone Else could leave it.

Greetingssssss Sssssssmitemassssterssss...

I have started an auxiliary topic on the Anything board to keep track of the rankings and turns of death of all the snakes.

Dead Snakes

Please feel free to drop in and offer corrections or comments, as I'm not always sure exactly what turn a snake died on.

Josh

Yes!!! I escaped that pit (dispite all the attempts to stop me) and then I survived the next and now I am in the center where I can coil to my hearts content(for awhile), and by the way HE is a SHE. :fun

By the way Tahnan Blame it on Chris I was heading out the top of my area when he bumped instead of jumped and that sent me into your area, :w00t , and then it was survival first, sorry.

I have some questions. These may already have been answered, so sorry if I repeat an asked question.

1. Why was it that sometime ago there was a different board, instead of the original?
2. Are ALL of the people from the first board on the second one?
3. If the answer to 2 is yes, then where's my snake on there?

Also, if I sound stressy, I'm really not, so sorry again.

1. There was a smaller initial board. You had to escape to the right side of it in order to be moved to the arena you see now.
2. No, just the ones who lived or at least asked to be resurrected. See this post for the final results from the first arena.
