Well, the only other Tetris version that I can think of would be Tetris Worlds. Hopefully that's what it is, otherwise I'm out of ideas, for now.

I'd guess it's some totally non-obvious game where you can play some other games "inside" the game, similar to the arcade machines in, ummm, either GTA3 or GTA: Vice City...

Yeah, Doom gets it of course. And it's a really good game for people who like extremely challenging puzzles.

Haha, this game sure wins the "Most Inconspicuous Name" award. I knew it from the first screenshot because I played like 40 levels of this thing... knew all the elements on that first screen and what they do, but for the life of me couldn't remember the name. Kept feeding Google for hours with names like Blackout, Breakdown and Breakthrough trying to get it right.

Well, I remember it now, it's Blackshift...

Aye, looks like the guy from Ys. That first screenshot looked familiar, but I couldn't place it.

For Sorcerian, the main company behind it, the PC version, anyways, was Sierra.

And skell is correct! This is indeed Zeliard. A really fun and hard game, with an interesting twist on dungeons, which were connected at the left-right and up-down sides. So each dungeon was a sort of torus. The guy on the second pic is Duke Garland, the protagonist who needs to collect the 9 jewels by beating the 9 bosses and (yes) save the princess.

Really recommended if you have DOSBox and don't mind it runs at about 300x200 resolution with 64 colors.
