It had been a pleasant romp so far, until I reached level 2: 2E and 1N2E, both of which I have found to be very tedious, the latter one especially so. Having said that, there will most likely be others who like this type of room, so it's just down to my own dislikes of certain types of puzzles. The rest I have enjoyed playing.

According to this page, the HQ hold was uploaded on Jun 24th, 2005. But it only appeared in my "Change Location" menu yesterday. Also, this thread seems to suggest that it's a new hold - all the messages are recent.

So why is the 'date' field showing June?

Ah. I think you found a small bug. This hold has been in beta testing for a while (since about June, amazingly enough), and only got uploaded as a completed hold this weekend. So apparently the Holds page lists the first time it was uploaded as a beta hold, not the first time it was uploaded as a completed hold. Hopefully Schik will see this thread, or I'll point him to it. Thanks!

I noticed that "Diago's Dungeon: A Delver's Delight" appeared in the hold list at the same time, but that has the correct date on the web page.

Does that suggest that the bug is intermittant, or simply that "Diago's Dungeon: A Delver's Delight" was never beta tested before being released to the general public?

Well, it suggests that Diago's dungeon didn't use the beta-distribution feature offered by the forums. That's not quite the same as saying it wasn't beta tested - perhaps it was tested and distributed by email or something. (note - I have no idea whether or not Diago's dungeon was beta tested).

And before you ask, the hold beta-testing feature is a CaravelNet-only feature, which I see you are subscribed to. If you select "Make me available for beta-testing holds" in the CaravelNet tab of your profile, you can also participate if someone chooses to invite you.

Usually the Architecture forum is used for beta testing, but people also conduct private beta tests. And some don't test at all, which is rarely appreciated by the forum. You don't have to use the beta testing features to submit a hold to the Holds forum.

This hold started off a bit easy and unorthodox, so I wasn't sure, but it has gotten more enjoyable. I've just started level two and have decided to go to bed for now, but I figured I'd come and say that I like it so far.

I have not completed this room and I don't think anyone else has. If it can be done, I think you must require quite specific timing on the respawning (or some trick/luck) to get an eye to shorten the snake.

Sounds to me as if someone has managed to kill at least one of the queens in this room. I've tried timing spawns, played with exact location to catch the gap in the parade, and even _tried_ bringing a gob or two along for company. No soap.

I've assumed the middle row is first, and multiples all at once are lunacy.

Hints, answers, demos, and general derision are always welcomed. :?

I know it's a little late to go commenting on the hold, but I'd like to say that, should it ever be re-updated, L2:2N2E could really, really use more checkpoints. 446 moves in, I'm still nowhere near the single checkpoint, and I'm starting to get reeeeally tired of redoing the first 200 moves, over and over. And over.

Kvetching done; we return you to your regularly scheduled holds board.

EDIT: OK, so actually going the right way at the beginning helped, but, man.

I am playing the updated version of this hold and really enjoying it. However, I have reached Level 3, 1S. This room seems to be unsolveable as an earlier comment holds true. The goblins are behind a red and green door. Obviously, the green door won't drop until they are dead. But there are two traps at the dead end of a one square wide corridor which you must drop to trigger the red door. Can't be done.

There are recent highscores for this room (including one as recent as 3 days ago), so it's pretty certainly solvable. Maybe the version you have isn't the most recent?

Looking at the room image on caravelnet shows that there's only one trapdoor there, which indicates that caravelnet has a solvable version.
