1. Go to a room with a mimic and a monster.
2. Place the mimic so it would kill the monster.
3. Presto! There is no splatter. In the original, there was.

Ah, I found something, but it's not the droids we were looking for. When the mimic potion is picked up, all room effects (e.g. splatters) were getting erased. (This is due to another room fix to prevent a crash.) Now they won't disappear. I wrote up a bug report for this. Will keep looking for the original one...
