After a few minutes of lost connection, clicking on the Upload My Scores button blocks JtRH for over half an hour. Is this usual?

For the first time you run it after 2.0.6, yes. Then after that it only exports scores it hasn't uploaded, so it goes faster.

I think my problem stems from when I swap my player file between the laptop and the desktop - the CaravelKey might be different...

PS when I posted the 'takes half an hour' - it's still exporting...

I usually have to wait a couple of hours when I upload my scores (I have a relatively fast connection, but I'm still using 2.0.5 (Linux 2.0.6 isn't out yet)).

The CaravelKey shouldn't have anything to do with it (as long as you're able to connect to CaravelNet), but using <=2.0.5 does. If you're using 2.0.6 and have uploaded your scores at least once from both installations (information about which demos/scores are already uploaded is stored locally), but still get very long upload times, then there may be a problem somewhere.
