Hello!

I've recently been replaying heroine's quest to get more of the achievements and for some reason, Volund no longer looks at the crate when I follow him acting suspicious.

It follows the same pattern as always, he walks that way, I follow him, and he goes up to the crates, but instead of standing looking at them, and the dialog box popping up to say that he is checking on them and hasn't seen me, instead he stands near the crates, facing forward, and he doesn't get alarmed seeing me, he just talks normally if I try, and the dialog box won't pop up. I thought this might be a corrupted file, but I went back into earlier saves where it definitely worked, and the same glitch happened.

Any idea what might fix this issue? Might I need to uninstall and reinstall the game, or delete all saves? I'd rather not, but I'm aiming to get full honor and I can't do so with this happening.

Any suggestions most appreciated.

Well let's not do that. Please tell me what version you're playing?

Thanks for your reply.

The version is 1.2.2 . I did notice recently another language option seemed to be added but I don't think that should cause this issue. Also, I've noticed Volund sitting in midair cleaning his sword in that screen in the day, now, too. How would I go about sending a saved game? I haven't done that before.

If you're on Steam please try the Betatest branch, it has the patch.

From Steam, right-click on the game and select properties. Then go to the tab that says 'branches' (the rightmost one) and select 'betatest' from the pulldown.

My tab says Betas and not branches.

Screenshot of what I do have attached in file. Is it the Russian language one of these?

Yes, because that's also something we're testing. And there are more Russian players than players affected by the Volund glitch.

I've tried this, but it doesnt work. I get to a tab saying "enter beta access code" and I dont know what to enter.

Yes, because that comment from me is from 2016. That betatest branch has long since been moved to the main branch.

Perhaps you can share a saved game so that I can take a look? Anything I've fixed in that six-years-old betatest has been placed in the main branch a loooong time ago.

Right now I can't open the game on steam: when I try I get the message "unable to find game data files". I've verified the game data files but it didn't work.

Ok, I suggest we have this discussion on the Steam forum; I don't think we need to have it in two places at the same time.

(edit) Turns out the issue was that this player is using a 2016 version of Heroine's Quest, and using the most recent (2023) version would fix these problems.
