Okay, so here I am, I looked at this room, and thought hmmm... pretty simple, knock out break-down squares and drop doors, let the tar grow, make sure no babies are living, kill Mother... sigh... now I get close, but I always seem to get a baby between the top switch and the green door. I can't knock enough tar back in the time I have to get ready to kill Mom before 8 x 30 Moves (those darn tar times)...

Perhaps I've greatly missed something here, but boy am I frustrated... Perhaps some helpful clues here as to what exactly should I be doing? or am I just slow? or both?

This room was pretty easy in the gamma-testing stage of the hold (all you had to do then was to clear all the tar), but then came the timer...

Basically, you need to be efficient, VERY efficient. Some hints:

If you do it right, you should have about one spawn cycle to spare.

Really?

I managed to get nearly 3 spawn cycles of the timer left when I did it.

Well, it's possible to do it quicker, I just managed to get a little over two cycles left, but I looked at my victory-demo when writing the reply, so I guess it wasn't very optimized (first time victories usually aren't).

Well, here's my demo.

Hopefully you'll be able to see the general idea once it's about half-way in. You need to carve the tar carefully.

I also just couldn't get it, and tried to get the demo. I have it, but have no idea how to see it! Help?

Download the demo, and put it in some folder you will not forget (the default folder is [Your_Drod_Repertory]\\Homemade). Then fire up the game, go to the room in question (or any room, for that matter), and hit the F6 key to bring the demo window. I suspect the F6 key is your problem, as it is not the most advertised of all the features in DROD.

Click on Import, select the directory where you put the file, then the file itself, and you're done: the demo will now appear in the demo window, and you can watch it.

I can't tell you anything about the room itself, though, as I haven't played it myself.

Small correction: go to your DROD directory, then go to Data, then to Homemade, and put the demos in there. That is the default directory if you haven't changed it. If you typically put the holds you import into a different default directory, then you should put the demos into that same one so that DROD can find them without you having to search for them.

Game on,

Thanks for the correction. I'd better make the same modification to my other post on the very same topic then.

Well, I guess it tells you I'm not using the default folder at all.
