For better or worse, the game mechanics typically don't allow for that, so there's no way to do that...unless there's a beacon in the room.

No, I think he's asking about restoring to room start. So, basically, pick the most recent entry of the room from the restore screen and restore to that. It's not a game mechanics issue, not really.

Newcomers already get caught up with restore side effects as it is; I'm not sure having a hotkey change the overall game state is a wise move. At least on the restore screen the game can pop up a warning and provide visual feedback in the minimap about the implications.

I could see some merit in an "optimise this room" key which sort of suspended the game and provided a localised reset (e.g. exiting the room just restarted it for another attempt until you exited optimising mode), but room entrances would be an issue. As far as I know the game doesn't store enough info to determine which room entrances are potentially valid in a pre-conquered state, so often an optimising attempt needs to start by restoring to a nearby room to force the correct entrance anyway. My gut feeling is that it would be tough to create such a feature that was universally applicable.
