So I'm about 200 points through a warrior playthrough and I'm a stuck on two quests that I think involve fire. Picking up the ice flower I managed to get off the cliff and getting a gemstone out of the ice at the Holt.

I've seen numerous mentions to making a hybrid character and I was wondering if I missed something. I want to learn how to do a fire spell but it tells me I don't have the necessary abilities to learn it. Currently I have animal ken , climbing, and parrying as skills and riposte and lethal flurry as maneuvers.

How do I add some sort of magic skill to learn a fire spell? Is it way too late? Was that back in character creation or something? And if it's impossible to be anything besides a straight up warrior at this point- any hints on how to do those two side-quests without magic?

Hybrids are made during character creation stage

And yes, as a warrior you should be able to pick up the ice flower if you have something, and you should also be able to get the gemstone out with a certain tool.

magic is only for "Magic" trait, and only available if you put in character creation ...
have note, even your character have hybrid with "Magic" skill, not all magic can be obtained (probably only 5-6 which less than half), only Sorceress type can obtain ALL magic within gameplay ...

I notice if you drink the mead of poetry you get the option to improve skills, including those you don't have which wastes it. Thought at first this was another spot for adding skills.

nice improvements on ones you've got though saves a fair amount of work
