Whew! I must apologize for putting this off for so long. But I've finally gotten around to updating the SubTerra hall of fame again.

I believe I've included every player.cfg submitted to this forum (and in one case, a subterra.cfg file, which doesn't really help), which includes two entries for SubTerra II: Syntax and Stuart Rynn. Congratulations to all who made it to the list.

http://crystalshard.net/subfame.htm

And let me know if I missed any. You, too, can be in the Hall of Fame!!

I would have been Ultimate rank for ST2 if my computer didn't crash some time ago. -_-

Oops. Got any player files left? Usually, hard drives are well recoverable after a computer crash.

Hey Radiant,
I know this is an old game, but it's still great! I recently started playing SubTerra again and managed to get my rank to "Grandmaster". I thought I'd submit my Player.cfg file and have my name added to the Hall of Fame! There hasn't been a new entry in nearly 5 years, but hey, I've always been one to show up fashionably late. Anyway, here's my file! Thanks for making such an awesome game :)

Hey Radiant, I have been playing this game for the last 10 years. And i must say, i always become a kid i used to be when i start this game in my computer. All the colors in this game have memories of my old home. I miss my old home. Its fair to say that this game is a legend. And this is part of my life.

I am attaching my Player.cfg file here. Reached Advanced after 10 years :thumbsup Would be nice to see my name in your Hall of Fame. :) When you are updating, keep my name in hall of fame as "Jegan Supertramp" ..

Glad to hear people are still enjoying SubTerra after all these years! Gotta do something about that sequel now :)

Here you go.

You should!

Even with a compsci background, it still baffles me how deterministic the game is, and also how you can replicate computer logic in the levels. That's just good design.

I've been playing this game all summer and almost got all of them, but I don't know if I'll ever solve Combination Lock and Seven Seas of Rhye. I'm too lazy to put serious time into solving Euler, Vertigo, and What Would Brian Boitano Do as well. Got a little content with myself once I passed your score, Radiant ;) Could you add me whenever you get the time?

Reactor Shielding, the upper right room in Razzle Dazzle, Prelude To Confusion, and Hide n Go Seek were vicious. I stared at each of those maps for a couple weeks before I finally solved them.

Hey Radiant! I know that this thread hasn't been updated in a long time, so I hope you see this. I can remember playing this game as a kid ~15 years ago and I never thought I'd get past Intermediate Rank. Well, I started playing again last year, and have now reached Ultimate Rank! I'd really appreciate it if you could add me to the Hall of Fame :)! The name on the save file is "Fef", but please post my name as "Starla Insigna". Thank you! :D

Yo! It's been quite some time. I last posted on here all the way back in 2015. Crazy how time flies!
Had the itch to play my childhood game again, so I installed SubTerra on my new computer, loaded up old my Player.cfg file, and picked up where I left off.
I finally managed to accomplish my long-time goal of mastering every single level in the game and hit "Ultimate!" rank. Are you still updating the Hall of Fame? If so, I'd love to see my name at the top of the list ;)
Thanks for making a great game. I've made a lot of great memories with it over the years.

I... uh... kinda went on a tear this week and plowed through ST2 as well. I'll toss in my Player.cfg for that game too. Not sure how that works for the Hall of Fame -- doesn't look like anyone else has reached Ultimate rank in both games.

...Onward to Draconis?

Hello! Thank you for posting, I am happy to hear that people are still playing my old game Sub Terra in this decade!

I'd be happy to process the hall of fame; I just need to find my executables for Sub Terra 1 and 2, as they're not on my current computer (I certainly have the source but I haven't compiled that in ages, so I'll look for the exe)

Also, congratulations on making it so far!! :thumbsup

Thanks to Radiant's help on what could be causing the rocks to not fall correctly in Devilish Puzzles I've finally achieved Ultimate in ST2. (The other problematic level is Eye Queue Tree, but that one I managed to master myself, even with the issue.)

If your solution to the 3x4 rock stack works in editor, but not in game, you'll need to do the early bomb section a little differently -- each explosion counts as a "destroyed object" and apparently that influences the timing of how things roll enough to sometimes make it impossible. This explains why The Stew Boy, who created the level, later got stuck on this part himself -- he must've changed his solution to the bombs just a little bit...

Back to ST1, then -- I've long lost the file where I had Legend, but I don't remember most of the solutions anyway, so this is a legit replay and a lot of fun. Time to try and grind out ST1 as well.

Attaching ST2 player.cfg with Ultimate rank here. A little mixed on the number of "pass through blinking lasers" action levels (thought it was a bit too much), but the best of the puzzle-oriented ones are absolutely genius. Welcome to the Moscow Subway may have played a little dirty with its misdirection, but the actual solution is crazy genius and probably one of my top two favorite levels in the entire game, and that's just one of the masterpieces. Assorted Chambers, Overflow (one of the most fun levels ever, the other top favorite), Kick Before You Stick (even though the top puzzle is still cheesable because the one extra gem was never added to the quota), etc, etc, really fun stuff.

Not my ST2 score being beaten before it even made it onto the Hall of Fame! :lol
I actually did improve my score in a couple places since I submitted, so here's my most up-to-date Player.cfg file for ST2.
Crazy that there will be 2 new entries in the Hall of Fame after all this time. Are we witnessing the great SubTerra revival of 2024??
Huge congrats to you, Muzozavr!

Well frankly I'd love to have some more activity with Sub Terra Draconis, but I'm not sure how to arrange that.

Uh, my file is from ST2, not ST1. Is the hall of fame designed to not show "ST2" if you ONLY got it in that game, as opposed to both in ST1 and in ST2? I feel like it might be a bit misleading. :D

(Also, do you mean your personal record from ST2? I assume the HOF score shown for you is from ST1.)

I don't actually give much of a damn about the score when I play, but I do like hunting for extra gems if I can, and maybe more importantly, I feel the time limits in both games are pretty tight, so I ended up with a habit of pausing the game literally every time I'm thinking about my next move. The result is that in the finished demo, there's often (though not always) very little time wasted. Maybe this can explain the relatively high score results, since extra time does give points.

My current ST1 file has plenty to go until I reach even my old unsubmitted Legend status, so yeah, lots to do there. :yes

Right, typo on my part. fixed now.

There's not a lot of ST2 players (and both games have intentionally more-or-less the same max score) so both are listed in the same file.

I've been playing Draconis and have been really enjoying it so far! It's fun to have a mix of ST1 Prime, ST1 Contest, ST2, and original levels. I just beat the first world, looking forward to playing more soon.

It feels surreal seeing my name (twice!) at the top of the Hall of Fame after all these years, but... it just doesn't feel quite right seeing my ST2 score above my ST1 score. ST1 is my childhood game and one of my favorite games of all time, so I think it'd be much more fitting to have that be at the very top of the list.

Turns out, I was leaving quite a few points on the table in many levels, so I've improved my score quite a bit in the last few days.
I've attached my updated Player.cfg file for ST1. Final score... 155592.

If I could trouble you to update the Hall of Fame once more, that would be awesome. This will likely be my final entry.

Thank you! Now back to Draconis ;)
