OK I know I have done this before - but I just can't remember how. Also I am sure there must be a thread on this somewhere - but can I find it?

I have just done the honourable thing and bought City Beneath. I now wish to transfer all my progress from JTRH but how? I export player from JTRH and then Import Player in City and then go to change location. Whilst there is a list of all the holds, my progress hasn't been transferred and if I go to any of the holds that I have done, I would have to download or import and start from scratch.

I have JTRH and City installed in separate folders on my pc and in case it makes any difference I am using Windows XP professional.

Many thanks, I am sure I will kick myself when I find out.

You're nearly done. After importing your player, you should download all the holds you have progress for, then import the player file again. Then your progress will show up. Note that the main JtRH hold cannot be imported into 3.1, so you can't transfer your progress in that hold. So don't uninstall version 2.0 just yet.

Urgh, so I have to download all the holds, one by one, or can I select a whole group of them?

Since you have CaravelNet, you can select and download them all in-game. It takes a while, but at least you can go off and do something else while you wait...

Just shift-click on the list to select a group of holds to download via CaravelNet.

YES it works :thumbsup

If I remember right with JTRH you couldn't shift left click to select a group of holds which made it a pain when upgrading. This is much better, well done guys!

But Watcher was right I can't import JTRH :( although I have finished it (plus all the secret rooms and extras etc) some time ago. Is there any way I can transfer it? I don't particularly want to have to keep all sorts of old versions of software lying around.

There is no official way to do it. JtRH doesn't exist as a hold file in any official fashion.

It's been...ummm, hinted may even be too strong a word for it, but alluded to that at some point a solution to this might be worked out.

It is possible to do it on your own (maybe not 100%, but close) if you're willing to get your hands dirty. I don't have details on how, though.

Oh well never mind, as I said I had completely finished it anyway and I think there are enough other holds to keep me amused for a long time.

One other thing I noticed. Although my progress is transferred when I go to a hold that I am part way through it takes me to the start rather than my current position. I have to restore to the room I was last working on. Not a big problem but would be nicer just to pick up exactly where I left off.

This also happens when a hold gets upgraded. It's somewhat of a quirk, but you shouldn't lose any progress...

Welcome to the world of TCB :)
