Dubious WINE compatibility (0)
I noticed that Subterra proclaimed WINE compatibility and, having sworn off Windows, decided to try it out. Sure enough, it installed and ran, but at first run I noticed the game put itself into a fullscreen window...after forcefully changing the screen resolution to 800x600. Turning on Hi-Res didn't change the resolution, so it was stuck like that. Furthermore, after testing out a few levels, I decided to exit out of the game and get back to other things...except I couldn't. Upon exit, the entire screen (save a working cursor) went black and no further input was accepted other than the mouse cursor (not even clicks) and the good old forcefully-deny-power mechanism.
Does Subterra really require such low-level graphics access that it has to mess with the screen resolution and do who-knows-what-happened on exit, or is there a way to make it run without such overrides?
