I stepped into a room, a cutscene started playing (Under The Library, 1N 3W, after clearing the level), and I walked out because I was on the phone and didn't want the person on the other end to know I was playing a game.

But now it seems like the cutscene is gone forever.

Can I replay a cutscene that I've encountered?

assuming you haven't proceeded far past that room... you should be able to, from the main menu of drod, select
"play game"
then on the next menu
"restore"
then click on the room with the cutscene you want to review.
click the "room start" button in the upper right of the screen,
then click the "restore" button at the bottom of the screen.

that "should" work

You can also double-click on Beethro's portait in the upper left to see the script of what's been played (or is queued up to play) in your current room. It's not the same as watching the scripting again (and that room isn't a full cutscene, by the way, it's just regular speech), but it might be less of a hassle than doing the full restore.

Of course, if you never left the room, you could just hit R to restart and it would play the script again, but if you did leave the room you'll have to follow silver's instructions. Note that if you've already moved much farther on, you can always return to where you've gotten to by just using the Restore screen again.
