I'm trying to find documentation on how monster movement is decided. I could swear I've seen it before, but searching the forum/google hasn't turned up anything.

Is there a document/post detailing monster AI somewhere?

well if your the programming sort, you can always flip through the source code.

If your not, you can look at this page with discussions on monsters, and here for monster descriptions.

And if those don't satisfy your needs, posting a question on exactly what you want to know should reach the eyes of someone who can answer your question.

Hope that helps :)

The 'Monster Movement Clarification' thread linked to from one of the pages above is probably what you are looking for. A while later, I then posted here asking for it to be stickied or updated or something, and there was some more discussion and some slight mistakes corrected.
I don't think all the new JtRH monsters are covered completely, though.

I intend to write a series of guides on TCB, and put them up on the site (and maybe gameFAQs - I would like a submission there). However, whether or not that actually happens is yet to be seen. :fun. But I do know all the monster AIs, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks, the "Monster Movement Clarification" thread was quite helpful. I'm still curious about how Wubbas move, though.

I did download the source code, which I've been meaning to look at for a while.

Wubbas (and golems) try to move towards you. If they are blocked, they don't move at all.

You can get a basic understanding of movement rules by playing around with the editor.

... and when they are brained they act like roaches.

Although I never really have understood (unbrained) diagonal golem/wubba movement.

Not exactly. There are some differences between brained roach / golem movement.

Most notably that if something is in the way (say, another wubba), then it won't move at all, where a roach will pick the next best choice.
