We have a second release candidate. It might be The One!

I had to reinstall Windows after losing a battle against a virus. It was extremely irritating! My entire build environment changed, because I had to reinstall all of my tools, so I don't want to take anything for granted for testing this build.

I would like it if people could run through this smoke test:
1. Install DROD and run it.
2. Import 1.5 data if you got it.
3. Play through the a few rooms.
4. Switch between fullscreen and windowed modes.
5. Create a new hold and edit some rooms.
6. Export the hold.
7. Import the hold.

This is pretty much the same smoke test from the last release candidate. I know that some of you have already ran through these steps with RC1, however I would appreciate greatly if these people would take the time to repeat them, given the changes in my build environment and importance of assuring that the RC is absolutely ready for distribution.

If you get through the test successfully, just post a reply and say something like "Smoke test successful on Windows 98". We will be sure to hit Windows 95/98/XP/ME/NT/2000 before releasing.

I am interested in severe errors that cause loss of functionality, loss of data, or make the app look obviously broken. Fixes for less serious errors will probably be postponed. If in doubt, please report the error without spending a lot of time on the description, and we'll ask you for more information if the bug symptoms are severe enough.

Here's what was fixed/changed in build 39 Some testing around these changed areas would also be appreciated:

84240 Add Brad Wall to credits.
84239 Cheered up credits text.
84238 Added MSVCP60.DLL to setup.
84208 BUG: Level start screen shows when reentering Entrance room
84204 BUG: Restore screen map rooms colored wrong
84207 BUG: Can't use checkpoint when restoring to bad checkpoint save
83958 BUG: Ending demos freezing
83978 BUG: Can't import player w/ demos for other holds
83977 BUG: Alt/Ctrl-Enter brings up room stat box
83979 Paths truncated to 8.3 style.
84050 BUG: Hold/level start saves out of date

Smoke test passed again, Windows XP Home laptop.

I noticed that there was a little asterisk next to Dugan's in the hold select screen...does that indicate that it has been beaten? Why, yes it does...it's even in the documentation! Cool!

I'm getting a windows error box: "Couldn't find DROD data. This problem might be corrected by reinstalling DROD." and DROD won't run at all.

I've tried reinstalling a few times, both to my choice of directory, C:\\Games\\Drod, and to the default path, C:\\Program Files\\Drod, and get the same thing either way.

I'm on Windows98.

Okay, I reproed it, thanks. How irritating.

Please nobody else run the smoke test. We will have to do it again in an RC3 build.
