Here's the premise: I give you a quote from a movie. The first person to correctly identify the movie gets to come up with the next quote from a different movie. Pretty simple. If you know you got it right, go ahead and give a new quote in the same post. If you're just guessing, wait for confirmation.

Here's the first quote:

"I got so many hickeys, people will think I'm a leper"

Easy....
That was from Rizzo in "Grease."

My turn!

Who left this Handbook for the Recently Deceased just lying around?

The film is Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice! Beetlej... No, I'd better not :)

This should be an easy one...

Yep, you're right - pretty easy. Alien.

Next up:

"Lane, I've been going to this school for seven and a half years. I'm no dummy."

Okay...

"Hey, I'm walking here! I'm walking!" (high, whiny voice -- not Midnight Cowboy)

Another Rizzo!

That's Midnight Cowboy.

This one's probably too easy. I use it a lot.

Gosh... there's probably a handful of them with that quote, so I'll just state one that I know had it - Roger Rabbit.

How about:

It's a fairly common thing - I'm sure I've heard it spoken with New York accent in a movie.

Incidently, how many people are cheating? I suspect no-one will own up.

OK, I'll fess up.
I did look up the Tremors quote on the IMDB, but I couldn't bring myself to post it.
Probably because Erik knows I haven't seen the movie and he'd call me on it.
I've got 3 great ones loaded and ready! Now find me a quote that I can actually figure out! :)

Matt

I got the first one (Grease) with a google search but chose not to post (though I've seen the film often enough) but when I went to check the Beetlejuice quote it didn't get any hits at all (pretty strange, it's not as if it's obscure) So it's possible to choose a quote that's not easily 'cheatable'

But let's not get too paranoid and competitive. The quotes are the thing, not the point scoring.

And since everyone seems to be honest about not posting if they look it up, whoever posts the quote needs to make sure to give the answer and post another one if too much time goes by without a correct guess.

Weird movie.

...I figure that's long enough (or are we just having a quiet day?)

Mike Myers' So I Married an Axe Murderer (made just after Waynes World)

OK, another one. I'll give the full quote

"In 1930, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, in an effort to alleviate the effects of the... Anyone? Anyone? ...the Great Depression, passed the... Anyone? Anyone? The tariff bill? The Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act? Which, anyone? Raised or lowered? ...raised tariffs, in an effort to collect more revenue for the federal government. Did it work? Anyone? Anyone know the effects? It did not work, and the United States sank deeper into the Great Depression. Today we have a similar debate over this. Anyone know what this is? Class? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone seen this before? The Laffer Curve. Anyone know what this says? It says that at this point on the revenue curve, you will get exactly the same amount of revenue as at this point. This is very controversial. Does anyone know what Vice President Bush called this in 1980? Anyone? Something-d-o-o economics. "Voodoo" economics."

Okay, then, try this one on for size:

Person 1: Can I ask you a question?
Person 2: What is it?
Person 1: It's an interrogative statement, used to test knowledge, but that's not important right now, mister.

Yes, it was actually Airplane II, but I will give Erik credit for it, because I don't want to be an anal nitpicker. (Or, if you have ever listened to the Dave, Shelley, and Chainsaw show in San Diego, I don't want to be a Boyer.)

My favorite exchange of that type is, "The Sun? What is it?" "It's a great big ball of fiery gas at the center of our solar system, but that's not important right now." But I couldn't find that quote, so I used the other one. And the other classic exchange:

Dr. Rumack: Can you fly this plane and land it?
Ted Striker: Surely you can't be serious.
Dr. Rumack: I am serious, and don't call me Shirley.

Where of course Dr. Rumack is the great Leslie Nielson.

Anyway, Erik, please choose a quote and stop my wild tangents!

Game on,
