My problem was that I was adding an extra goal into the process. I imagined that I needed to pull all of the tar babies into the "brain chamber" in order to drop the green door and get out after setting the bomb, otherwise I would be trapped. I came to that conclusion because of assumptions made in early experimentation with fuse dropping.

I could call it a failure of imagination... :fun

OK . . . I can make the fuse as long as I think is possible, and I can clear the first three tar bodies in the center, and then I'm overwhelmed. . . can I ask someone to comment on the demo I've attached (where I think I'm just one or two moves short) and let me know where I've gone wrong?

I don't see where I can get this move (or two) back. I've tried starting at different points on the timer, and nothing changes for the better. Help welcome -

I don't think where on the timer you start is that important -- I reckon you'll be close enough.

You need to improve your efficiency along the top section. I cut into the NW blob of tar with the clock on 1, and the NE blob with the clock on 6 (the next cycle). You're at 1 and 10.

Thanks . . . Your hint on the SW move did shave one move off, and I ended up being able to match your NE tar blob timing. However, while the last blob grows correctly, and I am still alive, I'm left with four or five (depends) tarbabies trapped outside upon brain-death, and no way to get to them.

This tells me that the fuse is either too short by five squares, or that I'm supposed to pre-kill some tar. I see no way to address either. Now what?

Demo attached, since I'm sure I'm inarticulate on the subject.

Yeah, I figured that out as soon as I went out and did something else.

Pretty sad when I play the game better in my head than on the PC.

Ok, i have completed this room. However, I cannot at all get to the secret passage here Beethro and the Secret Society : The Headquarters : 1 North. Those damn 2 tar babies who refuse to join the party! How can I make them come inside, or better yet, stop them appearing all togeather!
