×Four young children are forced to live with their uncle in the country when their country, England, is bombed by the Germans. After a couple of days in a huge mansion, they stumble upon a magical wardrobe. When they walk through, they are transported to the land of Narnia. Narnia is a land enslaved by a wicked witch who has ruled for 100 years. After talking to a friendly beaver (yes, the animals talk), they find out that they are there to fulfill a prophecy. Four humans are supposed set the country free by defeating the wicked witch. Supposedly, Narnia's true king is Aslan, a huge lion. The four children eventually meet Aslan, and together they wage war against the witch.
I really enjoyed this movie. This is one of those rare movies that is as good as the book (it's by C.S. Lewis). The graphics are incredible, the acting is great, and the story is (of course) excellent. Not only that, but it had some of my favorite styles of music, especially during the huge battle scene. All in all, I was blown away. I think I actually enjoyed it more than the Lord of the Rings triligy (and I'm a HUGE fan of those).

Five scientists travel to space to study a cloud of "stuff". They believe that it may have caused evolution to begin on earth millions of years before. When they get to space, they made a miscalculation and were exposed to the cloud. After they got back to earth, they find out that they have mutated, and now have special powers. If you don't know what their powers were, you probably should read more comic books. The fifth scientest who was with them turns out to be a rather evil dude. The movie ends with the other four defeating him in a large battle.
Yeach. This movie disappointed. I was hoping for some neat fight scenes, and sweet graphics, but I didn't get it. The first hour of the movie was almost all setup, then they put a final showdown between the four and the evil scientist at the end. Nobody dies, nobody does anything to spectacular, and there isn't any good music. bah. On the plus side though, The Thing does have a few good lines/scenes. So it wasn't a total loss.

Serenity is the name of a spaceship.
Serinity's crew, led by it's intrepid captain, picks up a couple strays about a year ago. It was a doctor, who's skills were needed, and his young sister. The girl has strange powers that have been planted within her by the all-powerful Universal Alliance. She has become a weapon of war, but she doesn't know why. Soon, the crew is led on a strange adventure to a place, or a person, named Merinda. They find a secret their that will tear the Universal Alliance apart. Naturally, this doesn't please them, who will now stop at nothing to kill them. In a series of narrow escapes, populated by a large number of Reavers (very, very bad guys), Serenity's crew try to show the universe the true nature of the Alliance.
Sweet. I am a huge fan of science fiction, and this movie did my heart good. It's based on the television series Firefly, which I've never seen, and was created by Joss Whedon. The only thing that stopped this movie from getting 5 * were a few corny lines. Other then that, I really enjoyed it. The sets were pretty well done too. Maybe not as good as Star Wars, or Lord of the Rings, but still good for a lower budget film. There was just the right amount of humor interspersed throughout as well. Plenty of fight scenes, a great story line, and a coupla good scares too.
I'll probably buy this one when it comes out the 20th. How did I get to watch it before then? I have the hookup (and NO, that does not mean pirated/illegal films).
Run Lola Run

×Wow, I loved this movie! I'm not really sure why either. The basic story was about a man and a woman who love each other. The guy, Manni gets himself in trouble and the woman Lola tries to save him. He needs exactly 100,000 marks within 20 minutes or he will be killed.
So, she runs to her father, tries to get 100,000 marks, then runs to where Manni is. She gets to him just after he starts to rob a grocery. Sadly his robbery attempt fails and Lola is shot by a policeman (by accident). Suddenly, she remembers a conversation she had with Manni and instead of dying, the movie starts over (think groundhog day). Eventually there *might* be a happy ending...watch it and see.
It is a German movie, so if you don't speak German, you'll be watching the subtitles (which don't bother me). The music is all techno, and I looooved it. The story itself is decent, but the way the movie was put together was fantastic. This is one I'll be buying soon.

×Very crude, very funny. A story about a day in the life of a resturaunt crew. They spend eight hours together, and they're more than slightly strange. Other than that, there's not much of a plot. But, if you like the occasional off-beat humor...this one's for you.
On the down side they had an obvious rip-off of Jay and Silent Bob, and it just wasn't funny. It wasn't even slightly amusing. Not in my opinion anyway. Everything else made me laugh a *lot*. That probably isn't a good thing.
warning: NOT kid friendly.
