This is a bug in previous builds as well, but I felt it most strongly with Clayton's hold.

If you go into a room, and change your mind about it, doing another set of rooms later, when you return, and if you fail to complete the room, using "Restore" instead of "Continue" will cause the level status to revert back to when you first entered the room. This means that even though I have conquered the whole of the level, DROD only registers it as having been done in two seperate halves on the restore screen, and so the only way to finish the level is to conquer the other half without using the "restore" function.

I know the program warns about this, but I still think we should be able to count all rooms returned to "unconquered" states as being conquered.

Mike and I have talked about this before. It causes problems to allow the player to restore to a state that was not generated by gameplay in more than one "timeline". By compounding all the conquered rooms together into a fictitious saved game, it's possible to create a game state that doesn't allow you to solve a level.

There's still the quick any easy solution of (re)saving the game at a room's entrance each time you enter while the room hasn't been beaten yet. This will keep the saves current with your actual progress. If beating a room was a mistake, you can just restore back to the time you entered the room, right before beating it. This is potentially much better than having to restore all the way back to the first time you entered the room. I still recommend we reconsider doing this.
