You should be able to only vote for some of the entries. An option should be added (as the default option) to simply not vote for something.

Well, yeah, it skews things down very slightly...but compared to a default of 1 or 10 it's hardly noticeable.

Game on,

Well. o_o You can sure tell who's gonna win.

That said, because this post is otherwise worthless: It's nice to see that the 1's have levelled off.

So far, only 28 people have voted, so if another 5 or 10 people vote it could swing things one way or another. And I agree, it's nice that the 1's have stopped increasing. It might be because there was such a fuss made over them, people were guilted into not simply voting 1 for everything.

Good point. I still say a new default option should be added that simply doesn't cast a vote for a choice.

I guess the voting has just ended, and from what I can see, I'm second again. (Grrrrrr... :))

So, um....

Here are my thoughts on some of the entries:

Still, it was a great contest, and all the entries were well-written and worth reading. Well done to all the entrants, including the author of #12, who I think is first (Score - 7.375), and #9 (Score - 6.647 to 3 d.p), who I think is third.

:devil

Yes, it was my story that made fun of Matt C's Eighth persona. Matt - feel free to mod this post down as much as you want - I'd rather that than you sending thugs to my house.

While I liked the idea of my story, I highly doubted it would win. I think I went too far on the humourous side, and the quazy-romantic ending wasn't the best in the world either.

Still, all of the stories were very well written, and I enjoyed all of them in some way, shape, or form. While I did judge the stories a bit critical (I was close to giving my story an 8, actually), the vast majority of the stories got over 6 from me.

And Matt O'Leary - awesome job on the contest! Now you know how much fun it is to be in the driver's seat of the contest. While it ain't always pretty, you did a great job of it, and I commend you for that.

So that explains why you were so delighted with that story.

Don't worry, you've got a more creative fate than armed thugs in store. Mwahahahahaha!

Cough.

Although I'm being reeeeal careful about not spoiling things, after I sunk whole flotillas of ships with my loose lips last time.

Thanks buddy! It was a lot of fun to run the contest, and even though there was some conflict and a few hard decisions had to be made, I'm real glad I did it. I would have changed a couple things in retrospect, but all in all I'm very happy with how it turned out. I'm glad you appreciate my hard work :D

Alright! I'm glad that most of you guys enjoyed my story; thanks to all who took the time to read and vote and make this contest a lot of fun.

Thanks for the congrats silver; I appreciate it from a writer of your caliber. If your story had been live, I'd probably be giving congrats instead of accepting them. I'd appreciate any feedback you could give me on "Legacy" (as well as anyone else's). I wasn't completely pleased with my ending, and I'm not sure how some of my attempts at humor went, and peer review is a great way to improve.

Congrats to agaricus and trick for second and third finishes respectively. I enjoyed both of your stories. "First Roach" had an excellent tone, walking the line between humor, intensity, and adventure really well (much like Erik does in his fine stories). "Beginning of a Smitemaster" was solidly told-- it was a very believable first adventure of Beethro.

Thanks also to Banjooie for writing my single favorite line of this contest ("Do not enquire as to legality of half-greckle." Hilarious!) and showing off some excellent humorous writing. Yours was my absolute favorite for use of language and humor, and my highest vote. I was disappointed in your finish and would have liked to see you finish much higher than you did. Please keep writing!

Finally, thanks to Malarame for running this contest; we appreciate your effort!

For participation, this has been our most successful creative writing contest to date. To some extent, the rising forum population accounts for that, but still I 'm amazed and grateful for the excellent involvement. I would have predicted about half the turn-out we got. :thumbsup

Rank points coming a bit later, unless Schik or somebody else beat me to it.

Erik -- Maus and Maus II from DiMono. They sound extremely interesting... Actually, all of your books held some interest for me (Wodehouse most of all, Lovecraft and Fitzgearld also... Great Gatsby is excellent!), but, Maus wins out. Hard to go wrong with a Pulitzer.

I'm going to have to see about offering something in my collection of books and games as a prize... stay tuned on that one.

Nice! I would recommend e-mailing DiMono to make sure he knows of your selection and where to send it. If you don't hear back from him or there is some other problem, then please e-mail me.

That would be excellent! We haven't had new prizes in a while.
