I was just wondering is it possible to clear all of the tar from Level 17, 1N 2W?

If not what is the least amount of tar you can leave and still complete the room?

No, it's not. The blob at 1 is uncuttable.

As for the other question, I'll have to investigate.

For that room, of course it's impossible to remove all tar. If it was possible, the room would be extremely easy! For the other thing, it's very hard to tell it, I guess.

Thsi really should be moved from General into Challenges. Just ask people what's the least amount of tar they can leave in the room, and you'll get many demos soon enough.

If you take away all walls, then you would be able to cut everything but nine 2x2-blobs (theoretical limit). However, with the walls added, it gets a bit more tricky. The limit is still there - I just don't know if it's possible to reach it.

I can't seem to get even close to 9 blobs... these walls are a real pain. This is the best I managed to do:
