I don't know if anyone has had this idea, but with the new character system it would be pretty simple to make DROD into a semi tactical spy game. Basically, one could define the border to an area that can be considered a characters line of sight, so that if beethro walks onto that border it activates the guard, that causes more guards to swarm him, or more guards to spawn into the room.
Or othering timing puzzles involving a patrolling character, that when they are at X, beethro can sneak past, but if the character is at Y, or any point between X and Y, beethro would be detected.

I'm thinking this could make for some interesting puzzles, and if I had more time, I'd make one. Although I appearantly should be studying for my exams or some such madness.

Well, with eyes, your limited in that they look straight across a room.

if you define characters to react to certain areas you can restrict movement in different ways.
it is a very tedious process, however.

the attached file has some of the stuff i've been playing with in it, and probably explains better.
