The Chain Beast is a monster with a head and several chain sections, one of which is "hot". This chain section is on the end of the Beast. The Chain Beast will head towards Beethro, taking only straight paths like the Serpant. It will however use Roach code.

To kill the Chain Beast, you must kill the head, and this can only be done if it has no chain sections attached to it. A hot chain section (that is, the end) can be killed by Beethro, shortening the chain. A variant obviously is to have the hot chain section randomly chosen, and all of the chain sections below the hot section are destroyed.

Chain Beast heads are not affected by swords, unless they have no chain, in which case they'll skewer themselves.

If a Chain Beast goes into a dead end, it will back out by changing its chain. It slows the thing down, but not for very long.

It's dodgy, but is there any way we could make it work?

Ew...this sounds like one hell of a monster to beat...maybe if we give it a lack of speed too (one move per two of Beethro's.) Otherwise, how would one make it to the chain by the head?

I assume the chain acts as a wall? I don't know what else it could...but the question remains.

There will be a new type of serpent (blue) that only gets shorter as you stab it in the tail. So you have to keep hacking at its weak spot until it's gone.

Aah, yes, the blue serpant sounds perfect.

Now all I need is a way to implement enemies so they only get hurt when you use ice or fire and an enemy that you have to put bombs in its mouth and I can make DROD Zelda. :D
