Edit: I'll leave my unnecessary bragging here, as a cautionary tale, but Watson and Crick discovered DNA. Which is why it would have been very cool.
Technically, they didn't actually discover DNA; they only worked out its double helix structure using information obtained from many other scientists working on it at the time. I don't know a great deal about it myself, so I can't explain it very well, but you can find a relatively detailed account of the history of DNA's discovery on this Wikipedia page.

The first clue was a chain of DNA molecules, which can be used for encoding information as shown on this website. If you decode the original message, you get another string of DNA molecules, which you then decode to elementary,_my_dear_watron because I looked at the wrong row when translating the s in watson. That's a line said by Holmes, who was created by Doyle.

I'm working up another good one, clue to come soon!

Well I had Google'd the letters and came up with it being DNA but I never thought of it being related to encryption, so I missed that one. Thanks for all the help. :D

Actually, the leap from "elemtentary, my dear watson" to Doyle isn't as logical as one would think. Most people don't realize this, but Holmes doesn't say that once in all of the stories and novels written about him. That line was only used in the Sherlock Holmes movies.

It is, however, associated with Sherlock Holmes in the same way that 'Play it again, Sam' is associated with Casablanca. It's not that unreasonable.

I actually got to Doyle from Sherlock Holmes by looking at the 'architect' clue - I figured that as we had all the clues, we wouldn't have to make any leaps of faith by that point, and so any parts of the clues that hadn't been used yet needed to be.

Okay, here's a stab at the "the ludology versus narratology debate" phrase.

I think it has something to do with game play verus the game's story.

Basically people are arguing about whether you should anaylse how good a game is based on its mechanics or its story.

OG#2: OXO cubes.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of those were right, after having a code the time before it could well be a trick question :)

On the other hand, theres exactly 120 symbols and 120 is far too nice a number.

Sorry for the delay, I was away for the weekend. On the bright side, I wasn't holding up a letter, because 36 contains an X.

...wait, that's not a good thing, that's a bad thing...

Anyway, clue to follow!
