Okay, try this:

1. Place a snake anywhere.
2. Choose the "walls" layer and select floor tiles.
3. Place floor over the snake.
4. The snake is deleted.

Shouldn't snakes only be deleted with the monster layer delete tile? It does ask you before deleting, but even so I think it should leave snakes as they are.

Added to the bug listing, in with the tar item . . . same behavior.

Thanks!

Well, tar and snakes are kind of a sticky issue. (These issues never come up until an editor is involved.) Snake pieces are actually currently located in the wall layer (for historical reasons) and tar is on the object layer (because it needs to go on walls, but we might have monsters that go on top of it).

With a fair amount of coding, and a large amount of testing, snake pieces could be moved out of the floor layer. I agree this is the best option. If Erik gives the go-ahead, I can start work on moving snake pieces out of the bottom layer. But it's a complex process, and I'm worried about giving all the esteemed beta-testers grief as serpent-related bugs are introduced. So until that happens, serpents need to be considered on the wall layer, although they really shouldn't be.

And tar, although it is involved with monsters, isn't really a monster. I just put it on the monster menu since that seemed more natural, although it was originally on the object menu, and might need to go back if that is what makes more sense for level designers.

Discussion is welcomed!

As I said about tar in the tar thread, if snake bodies belong on the wall layer, they should be on the wall page of the object pallette - once you fix this, you should move them back, but the object selection is small enough right now that no-one will have a hard time finding the snakes, and the inconvenience caused by the need to switch tabs when placing and deleting the same object outweighs that of belonging to a non-intuitive tab.

Wait a second - now that I actually got around to testing serpents myself - they don't get deleted with the "wall" delete - they get deleted with the "object" delete, same as tar; they also can exist on the same squares as open doors/trapdoors, but not as arrows - are you sure they're walls and not objects?

Yeah, I think you're right. Sorry about the miscommunication.
