icon NPC remains don't work like the real thing (+1)  
If an NPC with either the Rock Golem or Construct base type executes a "die special" imperative, the remains they leave behind aren't really accurate to how actual monster remains behave. Constructs never reanimate, and both types of remains can be destroyed with a sword.

Furthermore, if they do this while standing in shallow water, their remains don't create stepping stones.

Obviously, I couldn't search all of DROD for something that relies on this, but it strikes me as the kind of thing that no one would have a desire to exploit, so I think it's pretty unlikely that fixing this will break anything.
