14 entries. Wow.

Now for the fun of playing all 14 holds (And with that, 126 rooms!) and voting for your favourites. The rules are as follows:

1. PLAY ALL HOLDS BEFORE VOTING!!! Because of the large number of entries, I would be extremly upset to see people voting within a week from now.

2.Holds should be judged based on use of elements (I.E - All of the monsters look well thought out and not just place to meet requirements), design, and on fun and enjoyment factor. The rank goes from "Perfect" (10) to "Good" (5) to "Neutral Opinion" (2) to "Negative Opinion" (1-0)
3.All holds are "Anonymous" (I didn't have time for 14 different names). That means that you will be unable to know who constructed each hold. As I write this, I have the list. If you are an author and what to know which hold is yours, please PM me.
4.Since no hold is perfect when it is first released, I will allow updates to be sent until Saturday, December 18 at 3:00 PM CST. Please send them to gamerextreme101@gmail.com.
5.If you need hints on a specific room, please post them here.
6.Please don't comment on the holds until after the poll is finished (January 9th, 2005 at 6:00 CST)
7.All authors must vote their own holds as a "10". After all, yours is the best, isn't it?

With that said, I will now post the 14 entries. Good luck to all!

Gamer - it may be a good idea if you explain what the update system is. I didn't submit an entry - no time - but if I did and then just posted an update myself, it would no longer be anonymous...

I suspect that it would involve not posting your intent to do so in a public forum.

I didn't see anything. Delete your post.

If that's a response to me, then that's irrelevant since I am not participating in this contest.

If that's a response to some other poster who already deleted their post, I'd suggest editing your post to reflect that - not deleting it, since that will just move the confusion to this post.

Perhaps I'm just an incredible simpleton, but I'm already stumped.

Hold #1, Octence South.

1. If the room spawns even once, it creats an unkillable roach.
2. The room *must* spawn once for you to get to the tar mother.
3. If you kill the roach mother before spawning the tar, your mimic is trapped and you have spawned unkillable babies.

I see no way out of this. Your only two solutions (killing the roach before or after the spawn) end in failure.

Hm. Well. I'll analyze it further and perhaps you can tell me where my logic breaks down.

1. Obviously you can't eliminate any of the island tar.

2. The snake is initially in a position that allows one unkillable baby to spawn - the lower left corner.

3. You can put your mimic there, but you must kill the roach before the spawn, which means this won't work.

4. Any spawn where the left opening, bottom opening, and their adjoining corner are clear creates an unkillable baby.

The *only* thing I can think of to do is this:

Which would be ridiculously time consuming and frustrating, so if that is the only solution let me know and I'll skip the room. :nugget

Patrick,

I just want to thank you by giving me this great Christmas present! (I don't want to wait to thank you after Christmas...)

14 Holds! in 23 days? That means about one each day...

This is the best Christmas gift I have for a long time... :w00t

Thanks! (and the rest of this community as well)

-- Tim (who needs to find some time to play all 14 holds... :rolleyes )

14/23 = about 0,6 holds every day.
But with all hurries 1 hold per day is propably closer.
I decided to do it a little faster. I've completed already 3 holds completely (including my own...) and about 45% of all rooms... It's the easier half though...

(And I'm quite sure about my ratings but there's no rush, I keep changing my mind anyway after playing holds more throughly.)

Patrick, don't hit me if I vote before one week has passed ;)

I can name at least 3 authors almost for sure by looking at the holds. There are clearly some similarities in people's old and new holds.

I need help on #1, 3S. The room with the serpent and the brain.
I have absolutely no idea what to do...

And 1S as well. I seem to have too few trapdoors left on the north side...
Is there a trick to it or is it just carefully stepping?

I need a little help for entry 4, 1N 1W.

I'm at the point where I've opened the doors that allow access to the eyes, but I've hit a problem.

[Numbering of rows and columns begins at 0]

The eyes at (9,1) and (4,6) block access to columns 1-9 and rows 1-6 respectively, since you can't pass them without activating them. I guess the idea was to kill one of them so you could access the other, but with the eyes as they are, I cannot access the eye chamber entrances at either (14,3), (7,5) or (3, 8/9) without activating the eyes.

What am I missing?

I think I need a little more help.

In entry 9, 1N, there are two monsters in chambers bounded by north-facing arrows and green doors, and so I appear not to be able to complete the room, as Beethro cannot go into both chambers by himself.

Am I genuinely missing something, or is there a missing mimic potion in this room?
