I must say beforehand that I'm not sure whether or not this is intended.

I'm not sure how to describe this behavior, so imagine the following. Suppose I am standing directly next to a 2x2 blob of tar. Suppose also that there is a bomb, next to which is a mimic, whose radius touches only the corner of the tar blob to which I am standing opposite. I turn my sword so that the mimic hits the bomb, but it seems that the tar babies that are spawned from the explosion are able to move before appearing on-screen. That is, the explosion generates the tar babies on the turn on which it explodes and then they move on the same turn.

This applies equally to powder kegs.

I have attached a 2-room hold to demonstrate this oddity.

EDIT: This does not occur if the mimic is placed such that its sword will immediately detonate the bomb. You may test out both having the mimic strike the bomb and placed onto the bomb in the provided hold.

This is a consequence of the order in which things happen during a turn. It's a little weird -- especially together with the fact that when you move a mimic to stab tar and create babies, they don't move that turn -- but it's part of the way mimics have behaved ever since the first game, and it definitely won't change now because that would affect too many rooms.
