So in 5.0, switching to a new clone is "a move", according to the undo system anyway. Pressing undo will undo the switch. As switching doesn't cost a turn, this is useless, and wastes your undo slots. In 4.0, pressing undo would undo the last actual move you made, however many times you had switched since then. This was much more sensible. Unintentional change?

Also... In 4.0, switching to a new clone made the swirly effect but didn't make a sound. In 5.0, it plays the "drunk a potion" sound whenever you switch, which can be rather annoying in rooms where you have to switch a lot. Was the sound added on purpose? If so, perhaps a more "low-key" sound could be found instead?

It seems there is no sound when switching clones in 3.0. Neither in 4.0. I agree the sound effect is atrocious when doing anything more than a single change per room.

Unfortunately I don't see any sound effect that I think would work well and wouldn't make the player think that something has happened in the room, except for the short click that happens when you disable a seeding beacon.

I am tempted to remove that sound from the game fro 5.1.1 and maybe replace it with something less assaulting in 5.2. Thoughts?

As for the first part of the issue - PR is here.

What I've changed was to make the undo system use the real turn counter (the value that you see in the corner when you press F7) instead of the internal one (which treats answering questions, placing doubles and switching clones as separate turns). This should fix every problem there was with the undo slots being lots for trivialities.

I don't recall how the potion sound was added for clone switching. That does sound annoying. Suggest we replace it with something like a much shorter and lower intensity version of the double placement sound.

Can confirm in 5.1.1.alpha.2020-10-16 that swapping between clones counts as "free" as far as eating up allowed undo moves is concerned.
