When switching to the main menu, in 5.0, from anywhere (e.g. settings), there's a delay of 2-3 seconds (for me, may vary) before the fading in to the menu starts. I notice there is a slight (maybe 1 second) delay in 4.0 and no noticeable delay in 3.3/2.0.
It happens whether "Connect to CaravelNet" is enabled or not. It happens when JtRH is selected, so it isn't just the TSS title graphics causing it, except... It seems to be happening before CTitleScreen::SetForActivate is called, so perhaps it's loading the graphics even then?

I also have this issue when leaving Change Location screen.

Only the change location screen? Or did you mean that screen as well...?

This delay is for loading the TSS title-skin graphics. It would take an unknown amount of reimplementing to remove this delay.

Wouldn't it be fairly easy to skip loading the TSS (and GatEB, etc.) graphics, when some other version is "selected"?

Oh, I see... 5.0 only loads the graphics for the selected skin, so I'm not sure what's going on here.

Skell, (bumping this thread) my understanding is that the delay when loading the TSS title screen skin assets is "working as designed".

If this isn't the delay that is being discussed, would someone please provide steps to reproduce the delay when not using the TSS title screen skin?
