I must be missing something obvious here. The best I can do is kill all brains but (24,11), but then all the orbs are broken and I can't prvent the door closing.

I don't get it , I shoot the outside orb facing N then end up with the configuration where there is one brain left ( 24,11) , what should be my second shoot ? thanks !

It doesn't really matter what direction you shoot the outside orb from. What matters is the next shot. You need to think outside the box...
