I plan on stealing everything I can find, and guessing from the life in jail accomplishment I'm indirectly aiming for it.

Will I ruin the game by stealing from quest npcs?
Anythin else handy I should know? How do I actually take things?

The game is designed to be completable (that is, no dead ends).

If you get caught stealing though, be aware there will be repercussions and a long time in jail

How do i go about taking stuff? hand icon?

For stealing, you need to be in stealth mode, and use the hand icon. Hand icon basically allows you to use/interact with objects.

Stealth mode can be activated by pressing S (or you can use your action bar). Toggle it off by using W for walk, or R for run.

dang, I have like 34 stealth and i not inconspicuous enough :c
