Hi, I'm getting this error on startup of HQ, any ideas on troubleshooting? System specs are: Win7 x64, i5-2500, 8gb RAM, nVidia GTX780

This should really have a better message, but what it means is that the game attempts to write a file and fails. Most likely it means the account you're running on has insufficient privileges to the folder where saved games are supposed to be written; if you're running it off a smaller drive (e.g. USB stick) it's possible that it's simply full. HTH!

Thats strange, I have full admin rights and UAC is turned off. But thanks for the tip- I'll try reinstalling outside of program files.

What's the directory it tries to use for saves? Windows own My Games, or its program dir?

ps Request for more info made in the SA thread for the other issue

It should be "C:\users\<MYUSERNAME>\Saved games"... however if that doesn't work, then it's probably the game writing in its own folder, which is wherever you installed it but defaults to "C:\Program files\Heroine's Quest".

Got it, it's an NPC schedule overflow. It's timed and has nothing to do with what you're currently doing on-screen. It is likely that using the rest button will fix this (although resting in that particular scene is not such a great idea...) And I'll fix this for v1.1, of course, which is expected within the week.

Ohhh I forgot, I ran into this error too. But I prefer fullscreen so I was like "I'll try fullscreen" and it worked and I quickly forgot about it.

For this crash, did either of you get a crash dump file? It should be called Crashinfo*.dmp (where * is some numbers) and either be found in the game's main folder, or in the saved game folder. If so, we would appreciate seeing this file, thanks!

Here's an odd tidbit: The game does run when I remote desktop into my machine. Suggests a graphics driver incompatibility?

I'm using nVidia 334.67 which are the latest.

Well, regardless, the game shouldn't crash with that exception, but at least provide you with a friendly-and-sort-of-helpful error message. I've passed this along to the engine programmers, I believe with the crash dump they should be able to find this. Thanks for your help.

And no, it's not the case that "the training rate for most skills has been cut in half". What has been cut in half is combat training with Hervor in the guildhouse, because you learn more if you're facing an actual opponent. Most other skills are unaffected.
