heroine's quest - puzzle near start of the game (0)

As a rogue, how am I supposed to help Sigurd in the forest? I read elsewhere that I need Fast Talking to convince him to get up but no matter how high I get the skill it doesn't work. I even started a new game and dumped all my points into it, getting to about 60 by the time I met him, but nothing I say gets him up.

What are you telling Sigurd?

Will telling him that you'll bake a nice cake for him rouse him into getting up?

I've methodically gone through every dialogue option, writing them down and crossing them off when they don't work. I'm pretty sure I've seen all of them. He still doesn't get up.
