So I have just killed Fafnir and when I return to Regin, there is no dialogue to close the quest. When I show him the broken sword he doesn't react. Please help!

He told you when he gave you this quest that he wanted a very specific proof that you have dealt with Fafnir.

I have already tried to give him the chest but he tells me that I've already sold him one of those so I just opened the chest.

If it's a bug is it possible to steal the eye? I used the harp on the dog but have no idea how to get rid of the sword on his door. Someone mentioned a pillow on the forum. Would that stop the sound?

Ah, it is indeed a bug. :/ I gathered from what I've read in other discussions that if you steal Regin's horse before you complete his quest, you will be unable to give him the chest.

As for the matter of stealing the eye, I cannot help you with that I'm afraid, I haven't yet done a thief run. Hopefully someone will be able to answer you shortly.

You are not in a dead end though; dealing with Fafnir/Regin isn't necessary to complete the game.
