I'm sure we could drop a lot more moves if those were like in the least number of turns contest. You could use checkpoints, die, concentrate on one room at a time...

That's how the Caravelnet high scores works. Right?

That's what it sounds like to me.

I quite like the whole level challenge though. You have to figure out an efficient room order, it includes rooms where it takes time to traverse them as opposed to just kill the monsters and get out (eg L4N1E1, level 11, level 15), and the challenge of just getting through the level in one shot.

And it looks quite cool when they're strung together and sped up if you have an hour to spare.

Updated complete demo (still sans stairs)

Now with uniform time! 20 moves per second!

That's about 1 hour 13 minutes at normal speed, minus a bit because of the missing rooms, plus a bit because the pause between rooms.

Surprisingly nobody had made it perfectly yet. (It should be now optimal)

- First you open the DemoCount program.

- Click "Select" and find your exported demo file.

- Choose it and click "Count time & moves"

- You should see all required information in the list.

- If you ever want to remove the demo from the list click "forget selected node"

Do you know what version of java you have? I think I had a similar problem (that went away when I updated), but I might be remembering the wrong error message.

I did Level 25, and I think it's an improvement. DemoCount loads fine for me, but when I click "Count time & moves" I get "Annoying pop-up box!" telling me "org.xml.SAXParseException: 16"
This happens whether I've selected my own demo, or one I downloaded. Uh... I don't know anything about error messages, but if there's something simple I can do to possibly get it working, I'll try it.

Anyway, demo is attatched. I remembered how much I like level 25 while attempting the challenge to stab the 'Neather in 1N2W without exiting and reentering (Still can't do it -- if only roaches would move before 'Neather).

It gives me the same error.
All other demos work for me. There must be something wrong.

I can't check it in game because my after-corrupt KDD save is in L23 at the moment.

Still, have a point. I believe, you did it. But I can't add you to scores without any data.

I downloaded the level 25 demo by tiercel3 and it behaved the same way. It imported just fine, but DemoCount can't count it. Maybe it's something to do with going down the final stairs of a hold.
Added up the 12 individual move counts that were created on the in-game demo screens, and I got 3173 (but I used pen and paper... there's a good chance that I made a mistake... I mean, first I had to carry a 5, and then a 6).

From the first page of this thread, I'm guessing Kevin and DiMono have managed to optimise level 1 (there's certainly no obvious improvements that I can see)
I'd also be extremely surprised if Level 13 is not optimal.

Of the ones I've done, level 19 and level 10 are the only ones that I currently don't know of any improvements to (but that's not to say they aren't there.)

I haven't yet seen Hix's L25, but all other levels are improvable.
