Actually F5 records short demos in every room you visit and combines them together. You'll only see one room at a time. If you watch your invidual demo, you'll see that it continues into the next room. You can export the first room.

I'm not sure if this is right cause the whole level demo only said how many moves the entrance did. I did a huge mistake but not so many little ones I don't think. tell me if I got more than the record

Within the confines of DROD you'll only ever see the number of moves for the specific part of the demo you're watching. The tool linked to in the first post of this thread will give you a correct count.

Oh well I geuss I really suck at demos. I won't try to compare with the experts. That last mistake on the demo makes me look awful and to tell you the truth ,I am. :weep :weep :yikes :Notworthy

Actually, the biggest difference-maker in length of full-level demos is planning. Look at the level in the editor, plan your route, then practice each room a couple times so you know what you're doing going in. Then it's just straightforward following of plans.

Edit: As much as I'd like to take credit for it, the current level 9 demo is Mikko's not mine. The list needs some updating.

Sorry for the double post, but here's an improvement (in moves only) to level 2. It took me about twice as long, because I was too lazy to plan the rooms properly.

Time: 16:32
Moves: 3506
Rooms: 25/17

Edit: Redid it, and the only change was the number of moves, which dropped by exactly 80. It's not quite optimised yet, there are a few places where I know I dropped some moves, but it's getting there. Current numbers:

Time: 16:32
Moves: 3426
Rooms: 25/17

Besides, we've already had some rooms created that require as many as 10^35 moves to complete. 100,000 wouldn't be anything special.

This is a lot harder than it looks. I'm too reliant on checkpoints rather than not dying.

Less moves.
Longer time, partly because I'm at work and getting periodically interrupted, partly because I'm thinking
More rooms, because it's quicker to do a loop-de-loop than muck about hitting buttons and trapdoors in 1E (I think)

Room for improvement in 1E1S but I am now thoroughly sick of this level. So bleargh.

I'm pretty sure you're right. I did a quick comparison of demos. It took me 700 moves to do this room from the left and only 235 moves to do it from the south. While the first demo isn't exactly optimised, the difference is large enough that your looping around idea is almost certain to save quite a few moves.

Actually, what I mean is that if you're moving through it from west to south when it's already completed, it's quicker to just go round the other way, due to having to get all the trapdoors and orbs. 194 vs 138 moves according to my tests.

I don't think it's possible to save enough time by completing the room and exiting to the south in the same visit as the tar expands too quickly and you have to waste time hacking it away from the trap doors.

More level 2

I've taken the best ideas from the demos already up, managed to wring a some extra moves out of a few of the rooms, found a nifty queen trapping manouvere in 2E and I spurn the 'good timing makes things a lot easier' scroll. :)

Most of the rooms could be optimised more than I expected. A lot of maneuvering queens into groups and into corridors. Less eggs = less QWing = less blisters :)

Almost a full demo for the entire KDD (by stitching together all the above demos together). I can't work out how to include the stair-rooms properly though. Even without them, it's still over 6 hours long.
