It seems like I'm missing something obvious here. I can get rid of all monsters and snakes except the roach + combo one. I can get the roach just above the arrow with my sword pointed north, but it does me no good since as soon as I move right, it moves down. I figured I needed to be at (11,14) with my sword pointed NW before the roach gets there, but it seems impossible.

Did you try finish the snake with roach being north of it?

You need to be quick about it. The tar baby will always try to move towards you vertically if it has a choice. To get him across try
