This "Event" scroll will look like the rest of the scrolls.

When you place a scroll in the editor, the box will pop up asking for the text you want to put in as usual. In that box, there will be a tab at the top titled "Events" When you open the tab (depending what you have in the room, like doors) it will have different options to what event will happen. Say if you want to make a door open, in the event tab there will be a dropdown menu from an "open door" option that will say something like "open door at 15,7 (it will display exact coords to avoid confusion)"

Now when you playtest the room with the event inputted, when you step on the scroll, the door you selected from the from the event scroll will automatically open.

There are other options that can happen, like open door, close door, input monster at x,y location, add force arrow etc.

But I like it. *STAMP* There could be a lot of good possibilities that could come from it. THe monster input sounds the best though.

Hm. Scripted commands have been suggested and they're a no-no, but this lies in the grey area. I think it would be alright, as long as the events didn't get too complex.

This request is an all-purpose event triggerer, correct?

I personally don't like it, since it then becomes a number of different requests all rolled into one, and there is no way of telling what it can do until you step on it. It would be better split up into its component requests, for example, from the example you've given for its use, it's basically a Pressure Plate.

Sorry, Nillo. Not quite. We're still not comfortable with scripting puzzles, and certainly not comfortable with scrolls suddenly activating doors. We're trying to get away from trial and error puzzles.

It's something else. What did I say before I mentioned that something assumed is no longer true?

I probably shouldn't tell you this, but we're trying to get it renamed to Tetris 3. There have been a number of gameplay improvements and changes, and that name seems to fit a bit more now. But we're really not supposed to say anything until we've worked out the trademark issues, so don't spread it around, please. It might make it harder to get the mark, and if we can't get it, we may have to throw out a lot of code representing some pretty cool features.

I'm serious about this. As I understand, something similar happened when portions of the script to Star Trek: Generations leaked before primary filming was done and they had to make some changes to the plot as a result. I'd hate for that to happen to Tetris 3: JtRH.

Especially because we'd have to take out the puppies. I really like those little guys, and there's some great puzzles you can do with two of them on force arrows.
