Here's the template for the next round in the contest. You have until June 30th to submit your entry.

The rules are:
(1) You can add whatever you like, but you can't move or delete the objects already placed in the template.
(2) The only exception to the above is that you may change a square wall into an exit.
(3) You can't put anything to the right or below the no-scrolling block.
(4) Levels must be completed in this month, and posted in this thread.
(5) One entry per person; quality trumps quantity.
(6) Majority vote on this forum decides the winner.

Special rule for this month: Early in the level, the player must have a choice of where to go (e.g. left or right). This choice must affect how he plays the rest of the level. Ideally, he'll end up at the same obstacles but deal with them in different ways.

Many of you will recognize this as the first template for the original "Variations on a Theme" thread back in April 2009. It had a great run as a template for ST1, and I thought it would be fun to try in ST2. Let's hope it's just as successful! :thumbsup

I thought you might approve. ;)

It's a really great template, and even though it was used once already in ST1, I think it still has plenty of potential. Maybe we could even make new sets of rules for old templates, or vice versa.

Just out of curiosity, Radiant, have you ever considered making a level for one of the monthly contests? I've often wondered what you'd do with some of the templates.

No levels? :? I know we've used the template before (for ST1), but it's still got plenty of potential.

Should I scrap this one, or extend it through July?

May as well extend it. It's not that it's a bad template, there's just no buzz around here for the moment.

Yes, I have. I don't have a lot of free time though, atm.

I tried to make a level but hit a pretty serious creative block. If you extend the contest I'll try to get one finished.

The general consensus seems to point to extending the contest through July, so consider it extended. July 31st is the new deadline.

I should really get working on my level, too; it's only about half-finished, at best.

Yeah, so it looks like I wont be finishing my level in time for the deadline. I've kind of floated away from Subterra for a while, so I think I wont be making any new levels for a time. Sorry guys.

Go ahead and post what you've done so far; that's what I'm doing.

Here's my level, in all its half-completed glory. I got to this point, and got stuck. I couldn't even come up with a snazzy title.
