Keep in mind that most of the staff who worked in these studios now works somewhere else (if I am correct, Psygnosis in Sony, Westwood in EA, Epic Megagames in I don't know where).
Were I the music's authro I would surely give a permission for a tribute, especially a weird, DROD'ish one, the thing is that most of the time it's not the original authors who held the licenses, and believe it or not, there are lots of people who enjoy digging the internet in search of people to sue.
Well, anyway, I am now downloading the hold.
EDIT: Ok, played it. It's... Fine I guess. Mashing the Tab gets repetitive quickly. You could aim for puzzles where you have to move enemies in such a manner that they don't hit you and you can shoot them without getting hit.
