All right... depending on the speed of the bar as it climbs to 70% we'll have an estimate anywhere between 3 weeks to 6 months. Of course there's going to be a certain amount of fudge so please don't use my estimates as the official thing. I'm just a guy in a funny hat!

I'm guessing that it'll be out somewhere between Jan. 29 and Feb. 28. I have many reasons behind that. Besides, they still have 32% left to go, so my theory is this.

There are 145 days left in the year.

145/32 = 4.53125

Which seems about how fast the bar is climbing.

Then, there are 29-52 days where they can fix any serious bugs
they find/take a vacation from working what seems to be non-stop on JtRH.

All we need is patience. The team is working extremly hard to get it out. And, as many people have said about the Half-Life 2 delay, "If you waited this long already, you can wait a bit longer."

Actually, the bar is based on your estimate.

Mustard goes much better with kittens. Only ketchup is for puppies. :smart:

Grrrr... Darn lousy divide by cucumber error.

Seriously. This thing seems to have suffered through a few strong pushes and a few weak ones, and there's NO PATTERN! ARRRRRRGH! I've tried extrapolating EVERYTHING, dates, holidays, sick days, busy days, everything! Nothing! The best I can say is that the optimistic thing is about... 2 months away, and the pessimistic thing is... 24 months away. I'm going with the 2 months or more.

Maybe it should be put in the Holds Section?

It is quite deeply buried in the Architecture board.

It went up 0.5% while I've been at work.

Which leads me to wonder... how exactly are these numbers computed? To produce such an exact number as 71.75% implies that we know something about exactly how big it is, or how many bytes of code it contains, or how much time it will take -- i.e. exactly, probably to the minute or at least hour, when it will be released. Thinking about it scientifically, the number of significant figures that have been chosen to be put on the bar implies a percent difference of +/-.01%, unless stated otherwise.

Or, I could just be overthinking things. ;)

When I find out how to change the number, I swear I'm changing it to -23%.

.5!

I have some apprehension that as well as giving us funny decimals and intervals of change, that bar is going to change number base at some time in the future as well.

Imagine if it suddenly went from a decimal number to a hexadecimal number.

72.5 would then read 48.8 - the horror! (although I suspect that the percentage sign will be kept appended just to play havoc).

Changing it to binary form would also probably prove amusing too, for 72.5 would become 1001000.1.

...

I'm just encouraging you, aren't I?

What if the bar does the same as most installer bars do - go up to 100% and then linger there for several years before it finishes?

I've seen a lot of 'em that go up to somewhere between 2/3 and 90% or so and then go about 10x as slow as they did getting up to that point... which is probably because it determines the value of the bar by files read instead of amount of data read, or something like that. That would suck equally as bad.

Amazing...in 19 days it increased 1.75%. At this rate, the game will be finished in 252 days.....which ends up being April 26...2 days after my birthday.

Please....speed it up by 4 days so my parents have a good gift for me...:)

Don't forget the beta testing. That should increase the delay by some margin (It did for 1.5 and 1.6).

77%! Didn't they say that the first 80% is done in 20% of the time?

BTW, What does 100% mean? Can I buy it then? Or is it only finished?
