I think this hold is going to finish me! I need a hint on this room. I'm assuming I need to make my way thru without hitting any orbs thus closing the gates. I'm getting nowhere once the roaches start hatching. Please advise.

I thought I should probably post in this topic, having trouble in the same room and all, rather than making a new one (because it drives people crazy).

The problem with Claythro tower (Don't get me wrong, it's very fun) is that a lot of the rooms are based on weird tricks, and if you don't see them outright you're going to bang your head against a wall for a while.

This room, for example. I've read the two hints, and for the life of me I Still cannot go even slightly deep into the orb maze without hitting one, there's just too damned many of them.

Please, just tell me what I'm missing. , I just can't rotate it in the direction it needs to point.

If I remember correctly, it's easiest to move quickly with your sword behind you. Of course, then your sword is behind you when you catch up to the roaches. I think there's a place every 20 moves or so where you can swing your sword around to kill the roaches...it's very much an efficiency room. Not easy to give hints for, and I don't have demos any more.

Killing the roaches isn't even a problem. The problem is I can't Go anywhere without hitting an orb, and the "behind me" direction keeps changing in locations where swinging the sword around will hit an orb.

I can't get past 1 because the sword needs to point northeast but I can't get there with it pointing that way. I can't get past 2 for the same reason, northeast.

You can get to 1 with the sword pointing NE by starting with your sword SE, going around the orbs in a circle to the SE from the entrance, then when you get to the spot with 3 vertical empty squares swing the sword to the NE in the "alcove". It's not just pits that are safe spaces to swing the sword. And I think you get to 2 from 1 (although you don't need to, I think it's just a space for the roaches to get at you from).

OK I first attempted this room back in 2006 and read all the hints but can not get through the room, I know this is a cop out but could someone please be kind enough to post a demo for this room as I would really love to get through the complete hold, am basically stuck where I was in my first post. Thanks so much.

If you only want to get through the whole hold, then I'd advise you to go play Fireside instead.
