You need to use the other clone to keep the mud baby away. Two swords, side by side, make a wall.
The first step is getting a clone on the plate, where he will stay until you're ready to close the door. You want the mud baby to the east of him when that happens. The other clone needs to be in a position where the stationary clone on the plate can shield him while he moves around to the blocking position.

See how the clones have made a wall in the first diagram. When the SE clone is active in this position, the mud baby has to go horizontally, because its first choice (the diagaonal) is blocked by one clone's sword, and the second choice (vertical preference) is blocked by the other. And in the 4th diagram, you do it again... only this time you also use the inactive clone's body to remove even the horizontal move.
