The easiest way to embed an image here on Caravel without using another hosting website is to attatch it and link an image to the attatchment. But this has several flaws: The method is not readily apparent, the post has to first be made without the image embedded, there can only be one image per post, and it makes the Downloaded x times counter increase with every page view.

Any easier system would be much appreciated, but it is something we can live without. Meanwhile, I'm just hoping that no more of my images mysteriously vanish from imageshack.

Nope, it isn't readily apparent, so it might make sense to list a step-by-step method for embedding any given image via Caravel in the FAQ under Posting and Posts.

It's cumbersome, I agree. But it works, and it works well enough for me to not complain.
